On Deck

On Deck 10 x 8 acrylic on stretched canvas AVAILABLE
The moment is filled with tension and anticipation.  You watch the performance of the rider in the ring, and know your turn is next.
This was done from a photo taken at our local fall fair, and reminded me of years I spent as a young rider. Every spare moment -- and a good chunk of Dad's cash -- was spent at the stable.

  1. Oh wow - without sounding rude...that is a great horse's rear end! Love the way you have the light shining on it. The whole painting is wonderful.
Cute story about your "understanding parent's cash!"

    1. Hee,hee, how genteel you are, Julie! I love a good horse backside myself -- artistically-speaking, that is. Your compliments never fail to make my day. Thank you very much.

  2. I immediately thought of George Stubbs when I saw this. Beautiful!

  3. Hi Helene! What a lovely painting. The sheen on the horse's coat and the crisp light on the riders pants are wonderful. The background landscape is beautifully understated.
