Book Club

Book Club 9x12 oil on gessoboard
This is a painting intended for a new little family member's bedroom.  The recipient is just a baby now, but this is how I imagaine her earliest "captive audience" as she discovers the wonderful world of books.

  1. Beautiful post Helene. It makes me smile to see this little girl reading her book to her friends... the perfect painting for a little girls room! (You can feel the softness in the couch)

    1. Thank you so much, Hilda. I'm awfully pleased you like it. (And, yes, I was rather pleased with how the couch worked out. Bit of luck there!)

Your newest cat painting is charming, but I'm sorry to know you'll be temporarily sidelined by your fall. Feel better soon!

  2. What a wonderful gift to see into the future. You captured a universal theme of a child reading book with or to the stuffed toys. You did a great job with her relaxed position. Who posed? This will be treasured.

    1. Oh, thank you, Julie. The recipient is only a baby now, but I hoped to inspire a love of both reading and art as she grows up. (The basic pose is based on a photo from the artist photo-reference site, Pixabay, but of course I made alterations to more closely resemble the little girl in question, and added the toys.)

Your latest post of the nests was wonderful. You capture these engineering marvels so beautifully.
